Code 32

NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connector AB6 from air bag control module. See Figure. Connect connector AB6 to test harness "I" (98299FC040) or I2 (98299FC041), connector 1I. See Figure or Figure . Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminals No. 1 and 3. If resistance is not between 750-1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is between 750-1000 ohms, go to step  4.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to step  4.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 3. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace air bag control module and go to step  14. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect connector AB13 from left front sub sensor. See Figure. Connect test harness "H" (98299FC030), connector 2H to left front sub sensor. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "H", connector 3H, terminals No. 3 and 4. If resistance is between 750-1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not between 750-1000 ohms, replace left front sub sensor and go to step  14. See FRONT SUB SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or more, replace left front sub sensor and go to step  14. See FRONT SUB SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or more, replace left front sub sensor and go to step  14. See FRONT SUB SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 3 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace left front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  8. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 1 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace right front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  9. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 3 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 6. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is one megohm or less, replace right front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  10. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 1 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is one megohm or less, replace left front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  11. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace left front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  12. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, replace left front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to step  14.
  13. Check connectors AB11 and AB12 for proper contact and connection. If connectors are not making proper contact, repair or connect as necessary and go to next step. If connectors are making proper contact, replace front sub sensor harness and main air bag harness. Go to next step.
  14. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery cable. Reconnect system components and activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Clear air bag system codes. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. Check for normal air bag system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
