DTC P0183 (TNKT_Hi): Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High Input

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect SSM. Start engine. Set SSM function mode to F44. If displayed value is less than - 40°F (- 40°C), go to next step. If displayed value is more than - 40°F (- 40°C), repair poor contact in connectors or wiring of fuel pump connector, ECM connector or coupling connector E21. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove access lid over fuel sending unit. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Check voltage between fuel pump connector terminal No. 6 and ground. If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, repair short circuit in wiring between fuel pump connector and ECM connector. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, turn ignition on. Check voltage between fuel pump connector terminal No. 6 and ground. If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, repair short circuit in wiring between fuel pump connector and ECM connector. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  3. Check voltage between fuel pump connector terminal No. 6 and chassis ground. If voltage is 4 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4 volts, repair open circuit in wiring or poor contact at ECM and fuel pump connector.
  4. Turn ignition off. Check resistance between ETC connector terminal No. 5 and chassis ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace fuel temperature sensor. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in wiring or poor contact in ECM and fuel pump connector.
