DTC P1420 (PCVSOL_Hi): Fuel Tank Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Circuit High Input

  1. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to chassis ground, backprobe ECM harness connector terminal No. 10. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage reading is 10 volts or greater, check ECM connector contact and repair as needed. If contact is okay, replace ECM. If voltage reading is less than 10 volts, go to step 3).
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel tank pressure control solenoid harness connector. Turn ignition on. Backprobe ECM harness connector terminal No. 10. If voltage reading is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage reading is 10 volts or greater, repair short to voltage in harness between ECM and fuel tank pressure control solenoid, then replace ECM.
  3. Turn ignition off. Check resistance between fuel tank pressure control solenoid terminals. If resistance is one ohm or less, replace solenoid and ECM. If resistance is greater than one ohm, check for poor terminal contact in ECM connector. Repair or replace as necessary. If terminal contacts are okay, replace ECM.
