DTC P1400 (PCVSOL_Lo): Fuel Tank Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Low Input

  1. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to chassis ground, backprobe ECM connector terminal No. 10. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage reading is 10 volts or more, check ECM connector contact. If voltage reading is less than 10 volts, go to step 3)
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector and ECM connector. Check resistance between fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short in wiring. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Check resistance between fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector terminal No. 2 and ECM connector terminal No. 10. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair wiring. If resistance is one ohm or less, go to next step.
  4. Check resistance between fuel tank pressure control solenoid terminals. If resistance is not 10-100 ohms, replace solenoid. If resistance is 10-100 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between fuel tank pressure control solenoid terminal No. 1 and chassis ground. If voltage reading is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage reading is less than 10 volts, check for open in wiring between main relay and fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector. Also, check for poor terminal contact in main relay connector and coupling.
  6. Check for poor terminal contact in fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector and main relay connector.
