Valve Assembly (Std/GL/DL Models): Installation

  1. Apply grease to pinion gear and bearing of valve assembly. Center rack shaft in rack housing. If centered correctly, distance from end of rack housing to end of rack shaft will be 3.0" (76 mm). Install new packing.
  2. Insert valve assembly to rack housing with rack shaft teeth facing pinion side. Ensure cutout portion of input shaft serration faces toward adjusting screw hole. Tighten bolts in an alternate sequence to 14-22 ft. lbs. (20-29 N.m).
