Crank Angle Sensors
The crank angle sensor consists of a combination CRK/CYL sensor mounted on the end of the camshaft. This sensor furnishes 2 separate input signals to the ECU. The ECU uses the CRK signal to help determine fuel injector timing, ignition timing and engine speed (RPM). The ECU uses the CYL signal to detect TDC position of No. 1 cylinder when engine is running. This signal is used to trigger the proper fuel injectors. See Fig 1 .
