| 1 | Warm up engine to normal operating temperature and then switch off the ignition | ||

| 3 | Actuate the starter and allow the engine to turn for about 3 s | ||
| 4 | Insert compression recorder (1) with appropriate connector (2) into spark plug bore | Fig 1 | |
| 5 | Actuate starter and crank engine until no further pressure rise is monitored on compression recorder (1). | ||
| 6 | Carry out test procedure at remaining cylinders in the same way | ||
| 7 | Compare measurements for the individual cylinders with each other | For deviation of a cylinder to the remaining cylinders: ↓ Check cylinder leakage of the respective cylinder. |
