DTC B1048-7B: Brake Fluid Level Switch Low Fluid Level [07/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. VERIFY MAIN BODY ECU DTCS AGAIN 
    1. Clear the DTC for the main body ECU using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [07/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    2. Retrieve the main body ECU DTCs using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [07/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Trouble Codes 

    3. Is the same DTC displayed?

      Result

      Yes
      No

    Result:  2

    No

  2. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL 
    1. Inspect the brake fluid level.

      Refer to INSPECTION [07/2015 - ]

    2. Is the brake fluid level normal?

      Result

      No

  3. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2015 - ]

    3. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
    4. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    5. Is the connector normal?

      Yes
      No

    Result:  2

    No

  4. INSPECT MAIN BODY ECU CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU connector
    2. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    3. Is the connector normal?

      No

    Result:  2

    No

  5. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Verify that the brake fluid level sensor and main body ECU connectors are disconnected.
    2. Inspect for continuity between main body ECU terminal A1-21 (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
    3. Is there continuity?

  6. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR 
    1. Inspect the brake fluid level sensor.

      Refer to INSPECTION [07/2015 - ]

    2. Is the brake fluid level sensor normal?

  7. VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED 
    1. Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
    2. Connect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    3. Clear the DTC for the main body ECU using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [07/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    4. Retrieve the main body ECU DTCs using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [07/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Trouble Codes 

    5. Is the same DTC displayed?

  8. VERIFY IF OTHER DTCS DISPLAYED 
    1. Are any other DTCs displayed?

    REPAIR OR REPLACE THE MALFUNCTIONING PART ACCORDING TO THE APPLICABLE DTC TROUBLESHOOTING. 

    1. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [07/2015 - ]

    Result:  2

    No 

    DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED. 

  9. REPEAT THE INSPECTION FROM STEP 1. 
    1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the main body ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2015 - ]

  10. REPLACE THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR, THEN GO TO THE NEXT STEP.

  11. REFER TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND VERIFY WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A COMMON CONNECTOR BETWEEN BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR TERMINAL A31-2 AND MAIN BODY ECU TERMINAL A1-21. 
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.

      Go to Step 7.
