Inspection Procedure
NOTE:
Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the K1 knock sensor connector.
- Check for short between the knock sensor connector and the body ground.
Resistance: 1 MΩ or more
- Reconnect the knock sensor connector.
- OK : Go to step 3 .
- NG : Go to next step.
- INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR (See
INSPECTION
)
- NG : REPLACE KNOCK SENSOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - KNOCK SENSOR)
- Disconnect the K1 knock sensor connector.
- Disconnect the E4 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTORTester Connection Specified Condition Knock Sensor (K1-1) - KNKL (E4-1) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition Knock Sensor (K1-1) or KNKL (E4-1) - Body Ground 10 kΩ Or Higher - Reconnect the knock sensor connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- CONFIRM THE MALFUNCTION DISAPPEAR WHEN A GOOD KNOCK SENSOR IS INSTALLED
SST 09816-30010
- Replace the knock sensor with a new one.
- Remove the knock sensor.
- Install a new knock sensor.
Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 32.6 ft.lbf)
- Perform the driving test.
- Connect the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool main switch ON.
- Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES".
- Read the DTC using the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool.
Result:
RESULTDisplay (DTC Output) Proceed To "P0325" Is Output A "P0325" Is Not Output B
- B : REPLACE KNOCK SENSOR
- A : REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT )
- Replace the knock sensor with a new one.
