Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac XLR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .

  3. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the SDM harness connector.
  4. Disconnect the SDM harness connector.

  5. Remove the SDM mounting fasteners.
  6. Remove the SDM from the I/P center support system.
