Circuit/System Testing

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect a fuel injector.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition 1 voltage circuit and ground.
  4. Connect the J 44603  into each fuel injector connector one at a time. See Special Tools .
  5. Crank the engine. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF for each injector.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Diagnosis (w/J39021 or w/Tech 2)  or Fuel Injector Diagnosis (w/CH47976) .
