Installation Procedure

  1. Position the cooler pipe/hose to the vehicle
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

  3. Using a new O-ring seal, connect the cooler pipe/hose fitting to the steering gear.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  5. Position the steering gear heat shield and install the 2 bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the steering gear heat shield bolts to 14 N.m (124 lb in).

  7. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe/hose (3).
  8. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  9. Using the jack stand, raise the rear of the cradle support.
  10. Install the 2 rear cradle support bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 165 N.m (122 lb ft).

  11. Remove the jack stand.

  13. Position the intermediate shaft to the steering gear and install the pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  15. Install the 2 routing clip retainers to the RH side of the cradle support.
  16. Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .

  18. Install the 2 routing clip retainers to the front side of the cradle support.
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
