2006-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR; 2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada Only); 2006-2007 Pontiac G6; 2007 Pontiac G5; 2006-2007 Saturn ION; with 2.2L or 2.4 L Engine (VINs F, B - RPOs L61, LE5)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon Light is illuminated.

Technicians may find DTC P0442 (Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected ) set.

Correction

IMPORTANT: PERFORM ROUTINE DIAGNOSIS USING SI BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REPROGRAM THE PCM. ALSO, REFER TO PIP3746A FOR INFORMATION ABOUT A POSSIBLE SMALL HOLE THAT MAY BE PRESENT IN THE EVAP LINE.

If routine diagnosis using SI does not reveal any obvious cause for the DTC setting, and you have reviewed PIP3746A, then reprogram the PCM.

Reprogram the PCM with the latest calibrations if the above concern is encountered. An updated PCM calibration is now available to address this concern. This calibration, or any that follow, is designed to address this concern.

The new PCM calibration is available to dealerships in TIS2WEB (website version of TIS) version. If you cannot access the calibration, please call the Techline Customer Support Center and it will be provided. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
