Circuit/System Testing

  1. Inspect the appropriate door contact plate. Verify the following conditions exist:
    • Clean electrical contact between the door plungers and the B-pillar pad
    • Proper alignment of the door plungers to the B-pillar pad
    • Proper door plunger operation
    • If any of the above conditions are not met, repair or replace the appropriate door contact plate.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector C1 at the appropriate door contact plate.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the following terminals and ground.
    • Terminal C
    • Terminal D
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Connect the harness connector C1 at the appropriate door contact plate. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate sliding door detent switch.
  5. Ignition OFF, sliding door CLOSED, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition ON, sliding door CLOSED, verify the scan tool PSD Detent Switch parameter is Inactive.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the appropriate PSD module.
  7. Sliding door CLOSED, install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool PSD Detent Switch parameter is Active.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the appropriate PSD module.
  8. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the sliding door detent switch. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate sliding door unlatch actuator.
  9. Ignition OFF, sliding door CLOSED, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  10. Ignition ON, sliding door CLOSED, command the sliding door unlatch actuator ON using the scan tool PSD Latch Test. The sliding door unlatch actuator should activate.
    • If the actuator does not actuate, test the signal circuit terminal B for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the appropriate sliding door unlatch actuator.
  11. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate sliding door detent switch.
