Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Saturn Ion 3, 2005 Saturn Ion 2, and 2005 Saturn Ion 1. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Lubricate the IAC valve seal with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the IAC valve into the throttle body.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: Install a new screw when replacing the IAC valve.
  4. Install the IAC valve screw.

    Tighten:  Tighten the IAC valve screw to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  5. Connect the IAC valve harness connector (1).

  7. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
  8. Reset the IAC valve pintle using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Start the engine and check for proper idle operation.
