Diagnostic System Check

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Turn ignition on. Connect scan tool to DLC. DLC is located under left side of steering column. Wait 5 minutes, then go to next step.
  2. Attempt to communicate with BCM, ECM and TCM. Does the scan tool communicate with the BCM, ECM and the TCM? If so, go to next step. If not, diagnose communication concern. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. Using the scan tool, check for BCM, ECM and TCM DTCs. Are any BCM DTCs present? If so, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If ECM or TCM DTCs are present, diagnose as necessary. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no DTCs are present, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS  .
