Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Install scan tool. Turn ignition switch to the ON position. Using scan tool, command shifter ON while monitoring feedback. If shifter feedback reads HIGH, go to next step. If not, condition is intermittent. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Disconnect BTSI solenoid. Connect a test light from battery voltage to circuit No. 1135 (Dark Green/White wire) at BTSI solenoid connector. Using scan tool, monitor BTSI solenoid feedback. If feedback is not LOW, repair or replace BTSI solenoid. See BTSI SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If feedback is LOW, go to next step.
  3. Check BTSI solenoid control circuit (Dark Green/White wire) for a short to voltage. Repair as necessary. If no short was found, replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After repairs, retest system operation.
