NOTE: This bulletin is being revised due to the discontinuation of the 2nd design solenoid (P/N 21003289). Please discard Saturn Bulletin Number 00-T-74 (Corporate Bulletin Number 00-07-30-024).

PURPOSE

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide service information about automatic transaxle shift solenoids. Currently there are two solenoids released to service all model years of S-Series vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles.

IMPORTANT: When performing service on an S-Series vehicle that requires solenoid replacement, ensure that the correct solenoid is used for the model year application.

1991-1992 - Auto Trans Shift 3.25 ohm Solenoid (P/N 21002248) - 1st design plastic top.

1993 -2002 - Auto Trans Shift 4.5 ohm Solenoid (P/N 21003344) - 3rd design metal top.

The 3rd design 4.5 ohm solenoid (P/N 21003344) replaces the 2nd design 4.5 ohm solenoid (P/N 21003289), which has been discontinued.
