Mode Control Cable

  1. Remove radio to gain access to rear of A/C-heater control panel (HVAC control head). Ensure A/C-heater control panel, is installed properly and wiring harness does not interfere with mode control lever operation. At heater case, ensure mode control Black cable end is properly connected to mode valve (door) linkage. Ensure cable housing is properly engaged in hold-down clip.
  2. At A/C-heater control panel, ensure mode control Black cable housing is properly installed and locked into channel. Ensure cable end is connected to pin on mode control lever. Check cable operation for binding or backlash.
  3. Cable length is adjusted by holding cable housing and turning cable housing end at A/C-heater control panel end. Move mode control lever to defrost and instrument panel vent positions. If mode control lever bounces back on defrost (right) side, shorten cable housing. If mode control lever bounces back on instrument panel vent (left) side, lengthen cable housing. Check cable operation for binding or backlash.
