Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, monitor AIR PUMP SOL. - LOW VOLT or AIR PUMP SOL. - OPEN test. If scan tool does not indicate TEST FAIL, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If scan tool indicates TEST FAIL, go to next step.
  2. Check EMISS fuse (10-amp). If fuse is blown, replace fuse. If fuse is okay, disconnect air pump harness connector. Connect Noid Light (SA9194E) to air pump solenoid harness connector. Using scan tool, monitor AIR PUMP SOL. - LOW VOLT or AIR PUMP SOL. - OPEN test. If scan tool indicates TEST PASS, check for terminal tightness. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, replace air pump solenoid. If scan tool does not indicate TEST PASS, go to next step.
  3. Verify if noid light is on. If noid light is not on, go to next step. If noid light is on, check air pump solenoid circuit (Pink/Black wire) for short to ground. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace PCM.
  4. Connect test light between ground and air pump solenoid harness connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). If test light illuminates, check for open in circuit (Pink/Black wire) or for terminal tightness. Repair as necessary. If circuit or terminal is okay, replace PCM. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in air pump solenoid harness connector No. 1 (Pink/Black wire) circuit.
