Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system check. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Using scan tool, monitor this DTC. If DTC ran and failed this ignition, go to next step. If DTC did not run or fail this ignition, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HO2S bank 1, sensor 2 harness connector. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using a DVOM, check voltage on HO2S harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire). If voltage reading is 2-4 volts, replace HO2S. If voltage reading is not 2-4 volts, check for short to ground in Black/White between HO2S and ECM harness connectors. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace ECM.
