Refrigerant Pressure Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Saab 9-3 and 2000 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Refrigerant pressure sensor is located on right side of condenser, behind vehicle horns. Pressure sensor monitors refrigerant pressure in condenser and signals Dashboard Integrated Central Electronics (DICE) control module. Based on sensor signals DICE control module will operate compressor clutch and cooling fans. DICE control module will activate compressor clutch when condenser pressure is more than 23.9-34.1 psi (1.7-2.4 kg/cm2 ) or less than 319.1-377.1 psi (22.4-26.5 kg/cm2 ). DICE control module will deactivate compressor clutch when condenser pressure is less than 21.8-29.0 psi (1.5-2.0 kg/cm2 ) or more than 362.6-420.6 psi (25.5-29.6 kg/cm2 ).

Fan stage one operation will be activated when condenser pressure is 113.1-147.9 psi (8.0-10.4 kg/cm2 ) and deactivated when condenser pressure is 79.8-123.3 psi (5.6-8.7 kg/cm2 ).

Fan stage two operation will be activated when condenser pressure is 239.3-282.8 psi (16.8-19.9 kg/cm2 ) and deactivated when condenser pressure is 181.3-224.8 psi (12.7-15.8 kg/cm2 ). A pressure sensor failure will generate DTC B2360 in DICE control module and compressor will not cycle on and off.
