Before Replacing Control Module

  1. When all other tests have been performed, and fault has not been determined, SRS control module is suspect. Before replacing module, check once more that all diagnostic steps have been followed precisely. If DTC set is an intermittent fault, try wiggling wiring and connectors while repeating test procedure.
  2. If you are unclear about circuit operation, see WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  3. Ensure all ground connections are clean and tight. If ground connections have already been checked, repeat ground check.
  4. Ensure voltage feeds and fuses to SRS system operate correctly.
  5. Check SRS control module connector carefully. Ensure there are no damaged or broken pins and that outer shell is not cracked or damaged. If original fault was of an intermittent type, and involved driver-side air bag circuit, clockspring should be replaced first. Clocksprings are most common component to fail in SRS system. If the original fault was an intermittent type not involving driver-side air bag circuit, or clockspring has already been replaced in previous procedure, SRS wiring harness should be replaced next. Wiring faults are more common than control module failures.
  6. If original fault is still present, replace SRS control module. Ensure vehicle is in proper working order.
