Performing Kickdown Adaptation

  1. Connect PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the required vehicle and start the diagnostic application.
    • Read out and erase DME fault memory.

Perform KICKDOWN ADAPTATION :

  1. Select DME control unit.
  2. Select Short tests  in the Maintenance/repairs  menu. Press [F12] to continue.
  3. Then select Kickdown threshold.  Press [F12] to continue.

    Perform KICKDOWN ADAPTATION  by following the instructions on the PIWIS Tester:

    • Switch off engine
    • Press accelerator pedal down fully

    Keep the accelerator pedal fully pressed until the message "ADP OK" appears on the PIWIS Tester "System adaptation result" display. Kickdown adaptation is complete. If the message "ADP not OK" appears or if the adaptation is aborted or if the system does not respond, start the process again. Check the electric lines if necessary (broken cable, connector unplugged).

Checking actual values

  1. Select the "Actual values" function in the DME function selection.
  2. Select "Filter" and then select "All actual values".

    Select the following actual values from the list:

    • Kickdown
    • Pedal value

    Confirm your selection to display the actual values.

  3. The following actual values will be displayed if the accelerator pedal is not actuated:
    • Kickdown: not actuated
    • Pedal value: 0 %
  4. The following actual values will be displayed if the accelerator pedal is actuated fully:
    • Kickdown: actuated
    • Pedal value: 100 %

    The actual values check is now complete.

  5. Disconnect the PIWIS Tester from the vehicle.
