Wheel Speed Monitoring: Diagnosis/Troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • If other faults in the PSM are indicated, then remedy these first.
DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING - FAULT CODE 5500

1 Check wheels and tyres
  • Check wheels and tyres are the correct size
  • Check tyre pressure
 Step 2 Rectify

2 Mechanical functionality
  • Check wheel-bearing play on all four wheels
  • Check speed sensors and toothed discs on all four wheels for soiling and damage
 Step 3 Clean and repair speed sensor or toothed disc

3 Check speed sensor
  • Check all four speed sensors are accurate
 Step 5 Step 4

  • Replace affected speed sensor

  • Replace PSM control unit
