Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the HO2S 2.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground G104.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM.
  3. Connect the HO2S 2 electrical connector.
  4. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool HO2S 2 voltage parameter is less than 1050 mV.
    • If greater than the specified range, disconnect the harness connector at the HO2S 2. Verify the HO2S reading is between 35-55 mV. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the HO2S 2.
  5. Connect the test lamp between battery positive voltage and the HO2S 2 sensor input circuit terminal 4.
  6. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool HO2S 2 voltage is greater than 1125 mV.
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM.
  7. Verify that none of the following conditions exist:
  8. Engine running at normal operating temperature, observe the scan tool HO2S 1 voltage parameters listed below while commanding the fuel injector rich or lean with the scan tool.
    • Command the Fuel Injector Modification Commanded State to +25 percent - The HO2S 1 voltage should decrease to less than 3.0 volts.
    • Command the Fuel Injector Modification Commanded State to -11 percent - The HO2S 1 voltage parameter should increase to greater than 3.35 volts.
    • Command the Fuel Injector Modification Commanded State to 0 percent - The HO2S 1 voltage parameter should fluctuate between 3.2-3.4 volts.
    • If the scan tool HO2S 1 voltage parameter was not within the specified ranges, replace the HO2S 1.
  9. If all the tests are normal, replace the HO2S 2.
