Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic monitors the relationship between the CKP sensor and CMP sensor. The powertrain control module (PCM) is continuously comparing the CKP sensor signal to the CMP sensor signal. The PCM can detect incorrect camshaft to crankshaft timing. If the PCM suspects incorrect camshaft to crankshaft timing the CMP actuator system operation will cease and DTC P0016 sets.
