Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X315 I/P to console harness connector.
- Test for 900-1100 Ω between the audio common signal circuit I/P side connector terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If greater than specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition ON, radio ON, test for less than 4.5-5.5 V between the auxiliary detection circuit I/P side connector terminal 8 and ground.
- If less than specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper between the X315 I/P side connector terminals 8 and 5. Verify the infotainment system to switches AUX as the audio source.
- If the infotainment system does not switch to AUX as the audio source, replace the radio.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 connector at the radio. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuits listed below and ground:
- left auxiliary audio circuit terminal 24
- right auxiliary audio circuit terminal 10
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the radio X1 terminal 24 and the X315 I/P harness side terminal 6.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the radio X1 terminal 10 and the X315 I/P harness side terminal 7.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the auxiliary audio jack/harness assembly and reconnect all harness connectors. Connect and operate the portable audio playback device. If audio cannot be heard from the device, replace the radio.
