Installation Procedure

  1. Install the transmission upper brace.
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the transmission upper brace bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission upper brace outboard bolts (2) to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission upper brace inboard bolt (1) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the transmission to the engine. Then install the powertrain (engine, transmission and frame) to the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement (LA1)  or Transmission Replacement (LY7) .

  4. Install the transmission lower brace.
  5. Install the transmission lower brace bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission lower brace bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the transfer case brace. Refer to Support Brace Replacement (LA1) or Support Brace Replacement (LY7) in Transfer Case - Steyr.
  7. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
  8. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
