Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If applicable, install the power steering pump reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (5.3L)  or Power Steering Pulley Replacement (4.2L) .

  4. Align the power steering pump (1) with mounting bolt holes on engine block (2).
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  8. Attach the power steering pump return hose (3) to power steering pump (2).
  9. Attach the power steering pump pressure hose (1) to power steering pump (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fittings to 25 N.m (18 lb in).

  10. Install the PCM to PCM mounting bracket. Refer to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
