Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, record FAILURE RECORDS. Clear DTCs. Using scan tool, observe TCC brake switch parameter while applying brake pedal. If scan tool displays OPEN, problem is intermittent. If scan tool does not display OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCC brake harness connector. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe TCC brake switch parameter. If scan tool displays OPEN, go to step  5. If scan tool does not display OPEN, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Check for short power in Purple wire between PCM harness connector C1 terminal No. 30 and brake switch harness connector terminal "D". Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  7. If circuit is okay, go to step  6.
  5. Turn ignition off. Replace TCC brake switch. After replacing switch, go to step  7.
  6. Replace PCM. Program replacement PCM using required equipment. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool, select DTC. Select CLEAR INFO. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Depress brake pedal. TCC brake switch must display OPEN for more than 2 seconds. Using scan tool, select SPECIFIC DTC, then enter DTC P0724. If DTC test runs and passes, system is okay. If DTC resets, go to step  1.
