Test C: Wipers Always On
- If wiper/washer system description has been reviewed, go to next step. If wiper/washer system description has not been reviewed. See DESCRIPTION
.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Activate windshield wiper/washer switch through all wipe and wash positions. If wiper/washers do not operate normally, go to next step. If wiper/washers operate normally, problem may be intermittent. Check for poor or intermittent condition. See PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS
under INTERMITTENTS.
- Turn windshield wiper/washer switch to LO position. Disconnect windshield wiper/washer switch 7-pin harness connector. If wipers do not stop, go to next step. If wipers stop, go to step 5
.
- Check for short to voltage in specified circuits between windshield wiper/washer switch and wiper motor. See WIPER SWITCH CIRCUITS
table. See Figure
and Figure
. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 9
. If no problem is found, go to step 6
.

- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in windshield wiper/washer switch harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 9
. If no problem is found, go to step 7
.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in windshield wiper motor harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 9
. If no problem is found, go to step 8
.
- Replace windshield wiper/washer switch. See WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER SWITCH
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step 9
.
- Replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
- Check system for proper operation. Perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If system operates normally, test is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 3
.
