DTC P1585: Cruise Control Inhibit Output Circuit: Testing

  1. If cruise control diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If cruise control diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to CRUISE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect 16-pin in-line harness connector C103. Harness connector C103 is located on left side of engine compartment, near electronic brake control module. Harness connector is part of instrument panel wiring harness to the engine wiring harness. Using DVOM measure voltage between ground and in-line harness connector C103 terminal "R" (Dark Green wire) male terminal. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  4 .
  3. Check for open, high resistance or short to ground in Dark Green wire between Cruise Control Module (CCM) harness connector terminal "H" and in-line harness connector C103 terminal "R" (male terminal). See Figure and Figure . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 . If no problem is found, go to step  6 .
  4. Check for open, high resistance or short to ground in Dark Green wire between in-line harness connector C103 terminal "R" (female terminal) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector C1 terminal 72. See Figure and Figure . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 .
  5. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in PCM harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 . If no problem is found, go to step  7 .
  6. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in CCM harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 . If no problem is found, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - AZTEK article. After repairs are made, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace CCM. See CRUISE CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, clear DTC. Operate vehicle within conditions for code enable criteria. If DTC P1585 does not reset, testing is complete. If DTC P1585 resets, go to step  2 .
