DTC 11, Abs Warning Light Circuit Fault: Notes

On Chevrolet, light driver module turns on ABS warning light unless Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) provides a ground circuit to turn it off. Because of light driver module internal circuitry, only external faults can be detected. ABS warning light itself cannot be diagnosed, only control line to EBCM can be diagnosed. If ABS warning light control circuit becomes open, ABS light will always be on due to loss of ground at light driver module. If control circuit is shorted to ground, ABS light will remain off. On Oldsmobile and Pontiac, light driver module is integral with instrument cluster and turns on ABS warning light unless Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) provides a ground circuit to turn it off. EBCM controls both ABS and BRAKE warning lights.

1. Determines if ABS warning light can be properly controlled.
2. Determines if ABS warning light is on constantly.
3. Checks for other DTCs that could turn on ABS warning light.
4. Determines if ABS warning light can be turned off manually.
5. Checks integrity of ABS warning light circuit.
6. Checks for short to voltage in ABS warning light circuit.
7. Determines if faulty EBCM is cause of DTC 11.
