Information Center Test 2A - Low Oil Pressure Warning Light Malfunction

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.

Turn ignition off. Inspect engine oil level. Adjust as needed. Turn ignition on. If oil warning light does not illuminate, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 2B . If oil warning light illuminates, go to next step.

Turn ignition off. Remove Oil Pressure Switch (OPS). See OPS LOCATION table.

OPS LOCATION

Connect oil pressure gauge. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached. If oil pressure at idle is less than 4 psi, service engine mechanical condition for cause of low oil pressure. If oil pressure at idle is greater than 4 psi, go to next step.
Turn ignition off. If oil warning light is not illuminated, replace OPS. If oil warning light is illuminated, access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Go to next step.
Disconnect BCM connector "B". If oil warning light is not illuminated, repair Gray wire between OPS and BCM connector "B" for short to ground. If warning light is illuminated, go to next step.
Disconnect BCM connector "A". If oil warning light is not illuminated, replace BCM. If warning light is illuminated, turn ignition off. Disconnect information center connector. Remove ignition key. Turn off all lights and accessories. Close all doors. Go to next step.
Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance at terminal No. 8 (Gray wire) on information center connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace information center. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Gray wire between information center and BCM connector "A".
