Chime Test 7A - Chime Inoperative With Driver's Door Open & Key In Ignition

NOTE: Perform CHIME TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Open driver's door. If chime does not sound, go to next step. If chime sounds, system is currently functioning correctly.
  2. Using scan tool, read driver's door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays DRDOOR AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DRDOOR AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 3A  .
  3. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
  4. Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 4B. Connect jumper wire between connector terminals. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  5. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Light Blue wire) on key-in ignition switch connector. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, repair open ground (Black wire) circuit.
  6. Access Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Remove connector cover. Do not disconnect con connector. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and chassis ground. Go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace BCM. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire between BCM and ignition switch.
