Distributor (3.0L Optical): Removal

  1. Disconnect distributor lead wire at wiring harness connector. Loosen distributor cap retaining screws. See Fig 1 . Lift off distributor cap.
  2. Rotate engine crankshaft until distributor rotor is pointing toward intake plenum. Scribe a mark on plenum, as reference, to indicate rotor position when reinstalling distributor. Remove distributor hold-down nut. Carefully lift distributor from engine.
