Dr2, Codes 13 Or 14 - Map Sensor Circuit

  1. Turn ignition off. Tee vacuum gauge into vacuum line at MAP sensor. Start engine and observe vacuum gauge with engine at idle. Observe gauge while snapping throttle open and closed. If gauge reads manifold vacuum at idle and drops to zero when throttle is snapped open, go to next step. If vacuum reads zero at idle, repair leak in vacuum line to throttle body. If vacuum slowly drops to zero when throttle is snapped open, repair restriction in vacuum supply line to MAP sensor.

  2. Connect DRB II and disconnect MAP sensor connector. Put system into Sensor Test Mode "08". If display reads zero volts, replace SMEC. Ensure wire to connector cavity No. 11 (Non-Turbo), of 60-pin connector, is not shorted to ground. If reading is at least 4 volts, SMEC is okay, go to next step.
  3. Connect DRB II and put system in Sensor Test Mode "08". Disconnect MAP sensor. Connect jumper wire to Dark Green/Red wire and Black/Light Blue wire of the MAP sensor harness connector. If DRB II displays "0" volts, go to step 5). If reading is not "0" volts, go to next step.
  4. Connect DRB II and put system in Sensor Test Mode "08". Disconnect MAP sensor. Connect a jumper between battery negative terminal and Dark Green/Red wire at MAP sensor harness connector. If display is "0" volts, repair Black/Light Blue wire of the MAP sensor connector to the wiring harness splice.
  5. Disconnect MAP sensor connector and turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Connect a DVOM between Voilet/White wire of MAP sensor harness and ground. If it reads zero volt, repair open in Voilet/White wire. If reading is at least 4 volts, replace MAP sensor.
