Code 13

  1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector. Place carburetor switch in open position. Ignition in "RUN" position. Place "Read/Hold" switch in "Hold" position. Connect a voltmeter to the Green wire of the dual solenoid 3-wire connector and ground. Press and hold the ATM button until test code 93 appears on display.

  2. If voltmeter is pulsating and clicking, check for a poor connection in the harness circuit. If voltmeter is not pulsating but reads within one volt of battery voltage, go to step 3). If voltmeter is not pulsating but reads 0-1 volt, disconnect computer 14-wire connector. If voltage is now within one volt of battery voltage, replace computer. If not, go to step 4).
  3. Check canister purge solenoid control circuit. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect computer 14-wire connector. Connect voltmeter to cavity No. 13 of 14-wire connector and ground. Turn ignition switch to the "RUN" position. If voltmeter reads within one volt of battery voltage, replace computer. If voltage is not okay, repair wire of cavity No. 13 for an open circuit to canister purge control solenoid.

  4. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect dual solenoid 3-wire connector. Connect ohmmeter between Blue and Green wires of dual solenoid 3-wire connector. If ohmmeter shows any resistance, repair Green wire to computer for a short circuit to ground. If circuit is open, replace canister purge solenoid.
