Test 14 - Checking Air Switching System
- Remove air cleaner. Disconnect the downstream air hose from the switch/relief valve. Start engine. With engine coolant above 150°F (67°C), air should be coming from downstream air port of the switch/relief valve.
- On 1.6L models, if air is coming from downstream air port, go to TEST 16 . On 2.2L models, if air is coming from downstream air port, go to TEST 15 . On all models, if air in not coming from downstream air port, go to step 3).
- Check air switching CVSCC valve. With air cleaner removed and engine running, disconnect vacuum hose from air switch/relief valve. Connect a vacuum gauge to hose. Vacuum should read 0 vacuum. If vacuum is okay, replace air switch/relief valve. If vacuum is present, replace CVSCC valve.
