DTC P0036: Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit - Sensor 2: Description

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 heater is used to reduce the time that it takes for HO2S to go active. HO2S 2 is powered directly from the ignition 1 circuit. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls HO2S heater operation by grounding the control circuit via an internal solid state device called a driver. Primary function of the driver is to supply ground for HO2S 2 heater. If PCM detects HO2S 2 heater control circuit current is outside of calibrated range, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0036 will set.
