Test C: Cruise Control Indicator Light Inoperative
NOTE:
Cruise control indicator light is located in instrument cluster.
- Perform CRUISE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM then go to next step.
- Road test vehicle and operate cruise control system. If cruise control system operates normally, go to next step. If cruise control system does not operate normally, go to TEST A: CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE/MALFUNCTIONING or TEST B: TEST B: CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE/MALFUNCTIONING (USING TESTER J42958).
- Following manufacturer's instructions, connect GM Tech II scan tool. Command CRUISE LAMP on and off. If cruise indicator light responds correctly, perform POWERTRAIN CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If cruise indicator light does not respond correctly, go to next step.
- Replace instrument panel cluster. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. After repair, check system for normal operation.
