Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. After performing system check, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Monitor current DTCs on scan tool. Disconnect Purple 16-pin BCM connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . If scan tool displays DTC B2973 as a current code, go to step 8). If scan tool does not display DTC B2973 as a current code, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect left front door jamb switch. Using test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe Purple 16-pin BCM connector terminal B3 (Light Green wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  4. Ensure test light is still connected between battery voltage and Purple 16-pin BCM connector terminal B3 (Light Green wire). Disconnect right front door jamb switch. If test light illuminates, go to step 7). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  5. Replace right front door jamb switch. After repair, go to step 9).
  6. Replace left front door jamb switch. After repair, go to step 9).
  7. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between Purple 16-pin BCM connector terminal B3 and left or right front door jamb switches. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step 9).
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program BCM and perform relearn procedure. See PROGRAMMING  . After programming module, go to next step.
  9. Clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
