Preliminary Checks

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Oldsmobile Regency. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check PWR STS circuit breaker 3 (25-amp), CHIME fuse 1D (15-amp), T/SIG/BU LPS BTSI fuse 1B (20-amp) and CTSY LP/PWR MIR fuse 6A (15-amp) in instrument panel fuse block. If circuit breaker is tripped or fuse is blown, check for short to ground in appropriate wire. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment.
  2. If memory seat/mirror module will not enter self-diagnostics, ensure memory seat diagnostic connector is properly grounded. Check for open in Yellow/Black wire between memory seat/mirror module and memory seat/mirror module diagnostic connector. Check for poor connections. If connections and circuits are okay, replace memory seat/mirror module.
  3. Memory seat/mirror module will not allow more than 3 seat motors to operate at one time. If mirrors are inoperative or all memory functions are inoperative, ensure mirror selection switch is fully in left or right position.
  4. If seat motor internal circuit breaker is tripped, remove voltage from motor to reset. Check for broken or partially broken wire inside of insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded.
