DTC B1014 (PASSLOCK(R) R-Code Unprogrammed)

  1. If ether Instrument Penal Cluster (IPC) or PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder was just replaced, PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder has an unlearned R-Code. Program new PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder R-Code and. See PASSWORD LEARN PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. If ether Instrument Penal Cluster (IPC) or PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder was not just replaced, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder connector and turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). Using a DVOM, measure voltage between PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinders connector terminals "A" (White wire) and "B" (Black wire). If reading is near battery voltage, go to next step. If reading is not near battery voltage, check for an open or short in White wire, between IPC terminal C3 (Oldsmobile and Buick) or D4 (Pontiac) and PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder terminal "A". Also check for an open or short in Black wire, between IPC terminal C6 (Oldsmobile and Buick) or D12 (Pontiac) and PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder terminal "B". If wires are good, replace IPC.
  3. Measure voltage between PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinders connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "B" (Black wire). If reading is about 5 volts, replace PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder. If reading is not about 5 volts, check for an open or short in Yellow wire between IPC terminal C5 (Oldsmobile and Buick) or C3 (Pontiac) and PASSLOCK(R) lock cylinder terminal "C". If wire is good, replace IPC.
