Code 44 - Left Front Channel Will Not Move: Notes
This test is designed to detect bound-up ESB, a stuck motor or seized hydraulic modulator during initialization. When release is commanded during initialization, ESB should release motor, resulting in sensed current being less than commanded current (motor is spinning freely). If motor is not moving, sensed current will be equal to stalled current. Code 44 will set if EBCM detects motor cannot be moved in either direction. Code 44 will disable ABS function and turn ABS warning light on.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks if motor wire terminals are in proper connector cavities.
- Checks motor movement from Tech 1 commands.
- Compares EBCM command and motor feedback current.
- Checks for short between motor low and motor high circuits.
- Checks for motor that is internally shorted.
- Determines if fault is caused by poor terminal contact or EBCM.
- Verifies motor can apply when commanded by Tech 1.
- Checks for proper hydraulic modulator gear and piston movement.
