Code A096 - BRAKELIGHT Circuit Open: Notes

This test is used to identify cause of Code A095 failure. If Code A095 appears with Code A096, then either brakelights are open, brakelight ground is open, or Center High-Mounted Stoplight (CHMSL) is open during 4-way flasher operation.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. A false Code A096 may set due to brake switch circuit malfunction. If any other codes are present, proceed to that code first.
  2. This test confirms that fault is currently present in brake circuit.
