Code A047 - Left Front Motor Spins Freely: Notes

This test is designed to detect stripped gear or nut assembly duringinitialization.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step positions motor at bottom of its travel.
  2. This step determines if gear/nut is stripped. If gear/nut is stripped, hydraulic pressure applied from master cylinder will not overcome hydraulic ball screw, and brake pedal will not rise.
  3. When ball screw reaches top of its travel during full application, motor should stall. If motor continues to run, gear/nut is stripped.
  4. This step releases motor pack tension before removal.
