CHRYSLER Corp.
Level need not be checked each time system is discharged. However, if all refrigerant has been lost, or oil loss is suspected, oil level should be checked. Level should also be checked if A/C system has been discharged for refrigerant repairs more than three times.
- Run engine at idle (800-1000 RPM) for 15 minutes. If room temperature is 85°F or more, place selector lever on "A/C" and "HIGH" blower. If room temperature is less than 85°F, close car windows, place selector on "MAX A/C", blower on "HIGH", and temperature lever on "WARM". By heating discharge air and operating in recirculating mode, temperature of air flowing through evaporator can be increased above 85°F. On Fury, Monaco, Chrysler and Imperial, it will be necessary to remove and plug vacuum line to water valve, in order to obtain re-heat in "MAX A/C" mode.
- Slowly discharge refrigerant system. Near completion of discharge, oil dipstick should be flushed with existing freon (to insure a clean, cool dipstick). Remove compressor filler plug and insert dipstick until it bottoms. Oil level should be within specified limits.
