Functional Tests (Normally Operating System)

This test is made with engine operating and coolant warm:

  1. Set control lever in OFF position and rotate temperature dial to max. heat position. No air should flow from any outlets. Move control lever to NORMAL LO position which should cause blower to come on high speed and hot air to come chiefly from heater outlet with some air from defroster outlets. Move control lever to NORMAL HI position which should cause blower speed and air flow to increase.
  2. Rotate temperature dial to max. cold position (65°F.). This should cause cold air to come from the air conditioning outlets and the blower speed to go from high down through low and up to high. Move control lever to DEFROST position. Cold air should come chiefly from defroster outlets, with some air from heater outlet. Move control lever to DE-ICE position. Hot air comes chiefly from defroster outlets, with some air from heater outlet, and blower should operate on high speed.
